Is Klomio free?
Yes. The free plan covers up to 15 trips per month, which is enough for most occasional business drivers. Upgrade to Pro for unlimited trips, unlimited saved places, and PDF reports.
Do I need an account?
No. Klomio works without any account or login. Your data is secured with a PIN you set on first launch. Nothing is sent to a server because there are no servers.
How does Klomio track trips without a server?
Your phone's GPS is the source of truth. Klomio reads location data directly, calculates distance, and stores everything encrypted on your device. The only external calls are to Google Maps (route estimates and destination search) and OpenStreetMap (address lookup). Neither receives any user identifier.
Will the reports work for my tax authority or employer?
Yes. Each trip records the date, start and end addresses, purpose, distance, route, and claim amount, which is what tax authorities and employer expense systems typically require. The PDF and CSV exports work for Dutch Belastingdienst (rittenregistratie), UK HMRC, US IRS Form 2106 supporting documents, South African SARS travel logs, and most reimbursement workflows. Share directly with your accountant or attach to your filing.
What if I lose my phone?
Your data is encrypted, so whoever finds the phone can't read it without your PIN. Without a backup, you lose your trip history. We recommend exporting an encrypted backup to iCloud Drive or email weekly: Settings → Backup.
